This is a case of a Jaundice of a non specific nature - the most common version seen. However, the level of Bilirubin at 22 mg/dL is an extremely acute state and high value rarely encountered in normal practice. It can be seen here that her Bilirubin is rapidly falling under our treatment - measurement taken every 7 days.

Our perspective of the Disease - Jaundice

Jaundice on its own is not a disease. It is only one of the observable conditions or symptom resulting from derangements of the Hepatobiliary system that leads to elevated concentration of Serum Bilirubin.

We identify the cause of the Jaundice and also the associated circumstances of the patient. So if the cause of the jaundice is Gall Bladder Stone then that is treated. If it is due to the side-effects of certain drugs as mentioned above the same is addressed. If the reason is found to be a growth in the region that is addressed as well. There are separate treatment strategies for each of these situations. These strategies have been developed based on the experience of handling thousands of Jaundice cases covering all its variants in type and severity. Some of the randomly selected cases have been sited here.

Presented below are four different scenarios demonstrated by 4 actual cases. These are representative examples of thousands of patients we have treated. The examples presented would might be extremely rare for any standard clinic practice but these are now somewhat routine at our clinics since the most difficult cases come to us for treatment after the prognosis from best available in conventional medicine is not sufficient for a sufferer.

One of the outcomes of the research of Dr. Parimal Banerji is that even after the disease jaundice has healed, the bilirubin levels remain marginally higher than absolute normal levels for a year or more. However, this has to be treated as normal and treatment can be safely discontinued unless there are other factors which suggest otherwise.

What do Jaundice patients experience with our treatment?

  • Steadily falling serum bilirubin levels
  •  Improvement in the colour of the skin, sclera and urine
  • Improvement in the associated symptoms like loss of apetite
  • Continued support by our medicines to improve and normalise the Liver functions even after the clinical condition of Jaundice has healed.

Jaundice Symptoms

The most common symptom exhibited by a Jaundice patient is higher levels of Billirubin in the blood stream. This results in the yellow pigmentation of the sclera (white of the eyes), skin and mucosa. Very dark coloured urine is also a very easily observable symptom.

Causes for Jaundice
Jaundice may be caused by various reasons. Some common ones are listed below:

Obstructive Jaundice (Choelstatasis): Caused due to the obstruction of the bile duct mostly because of Gall Bladder Stones. Occassionally because of a growth in Liver, Pancreas or Gall Bladder.

Drug Induced Cholestasis:  Many very commonly used allopathic drugs have demonstrated the possibility of causing obstructive jaundice leading to high concentrations of Bilirubin. These commonly used allopathic (conventional) drugs include Oral Contraceptives, some Antibiotics (e.g. flucloxacillin, nitrofurantoin, etc.), Anti-sugar or Anti-diabetic drugs (e.g. Sulfonylureas), Anabolic Steroids, to name a few.

Drug Induced Hepatitis:  Very severe degree of Juandice can be caused by some very commonly used allopathic (conventional) drugs.  These inclide - Paracetamol, Anti Epileptic drugs like Sodium Valproate, Anti Tuberculor drugs (e.g Rifampicin, Isoniazid and Pyrazinamide) and Statins.

Imprortant Note about Drug induced Jaundice: It has been observed that a small yet measurable percentage of the population using the above drugs become affected by Jaundice and Hepatitis. However, it is almost impossible to predict which specific users would be adversely and sometimes fatally affected by these Drugs. In fact in most cases there is considerable time lapse (days and even weeks) before the symptoms of this type of Drug induced jaundice surface.

On the other hand almost all the above conditions for which these harmful drugs are administered are being treated satisfactorily and routinely and thousands of times with our harmless and mild Homeompathic medicines which do not have any such side effects.

The treatment strategy for such drug induced Jaundice or Hepatitis is different. It is based on our proprietory research on the side effects of specific types of drugs.

Juvenile Jaundice: Jaundice of new borns is also quite a common occurrance and sometimes may become obstinate. Our medicines being absolutely without any side effects can be used even if the baby is only a few days old.
